Written Warranty
WARRANTY TERMS
WHAT'S COVERED
All parts and labor performed by MJM Engines are covered under our written warranty. This includes all machined components, replacement parts installed during the rebuild, and assembly workmanship.
KIND-FOR-KIND WORK
Our warranty applies to kind-for-kind engine rebuilds only — engines rebuilt to OEM specifications using equivalent replacement parts. Work outside original factory specifications is not covered.
WARRANTY PERIOD
Warranty terms are provided in writing at the time of job completion. Specific coverage periods vary by job scope. Ask us for details when you bring your engine in.
WHAT VOIDS THE WARRANTY
The warranty is voided by improper installation, failure to use the correct fluids or break-in procedures, overheating due to cooling system issues, modifications made after delivery, damage caused by external factors unrelated to the rebuild, or taking the vehicle to another shop for repairs related to the engine rebuild without prior authorization from MJM Engines.
CARRY-OUT ENGINE WORK
Warranty coverage on carry-out engine work (engines brought in by the customer) covers the machine work and assembly performed by MJM Engines. Proper installation and break-in remain the responsibility of the installer.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM
Call us directly at (760) 745-4104. Bring the engine or vehicle in so we can inspect the issue. We'll diagnose the problem and determine warranty coverage at no charge for the inspection.
EVERY JOB COMES WITH A WRITTEN WARRANTY
Ask us for specific terms when you bring your engine in. We'll put it in writing before we start.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DOES "KIND-FOR-KIND" MEAN?
Kind-for-kind means we rebuild your engine to its original OEM specifications using equivalent replacement parts. We restore your engine to factory condition — we don't modify it for more power or change its original design.
DO YOU ACCEPT CARRY-OUT ENGINE WORK?
Yes. If you've already pulled your engine, bring it in. We'll handle the teardown inspection, machine work, and full rebuild. You pick it up ready to install.
HOW LONG DOES AN ENGINE REBUILD TAKE?
Turnaround time depends on the scope of work and parts availability. Because all machine work is done in-house, we don't lose time waiting on outside vendors. We'll give you an estimated timeline when we inspect your engine.
DO YOU WORK ON ALL ENGINE TYPES?
We work on a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines — V4, V6, V8, inline, and flat configurations. Call us with your year, make, model, and engine type and we'll confirm whether it's something we handle.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN A FULL ENGINE REBUILD?
A full rebuild includes complete teardown, precision measurement of all critical tolerances, in-house machining (boring, honing, decking, grinding as needed), replacement of all wear items (rings, bearings, seals, gaskets), reassembly to OEM specs, and a final inspection before delivery.
DO YOU SOURCE YOUR OWN PARTS?
Yes. We source OEM-equivalent replacement parts directly. You don't need to supply parts — we handle procurement as part of the job.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REBUILD AND REMANUFACTURING?
A rebuild restores a specific engine back to OEM specs. Remanufacturing follows the same process but to a standardized production level — typically used for replacement engines. Both result in an engine built to factory specifications.
DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE ENGINE BEFORE BRINGING IT IN?
For carry-out work, yes — bring us the engine pulled from the vehicle. For full-service jobs where we're handling removal and reinstallation, call us to discuss. We'll let you know what's needed for your specific situation.
